Hey Choir! As we all know, EXAMS ARE OVER (:! I guess all of you are planning what to do and how to spend your holidays now right? But still, PLEASE take care of your voices and health. Although our SYF is over and we have lesser trainings. However, we must still prepare for our next upcoming 2013 SYF (: Also, the weather is changing so please take extra care and drink more water!

All Choir theory students thats taking grade 1 or grade 2 please JIAYOUHS! As we know, our theory exam is on the 30th of October and its in a weeks time? SO yeah, all the best people!

Bukit Merah Library Concert 30/7

Hey choir! I'm sorry for the late updates. On the 30th of July, the choir performed in the Bukit Merah Library, it was our first time that we perform in a "library" right? Its a rare opportunity to perform for others and its a great experience for the sec twos.

The committee would like to thank the teachers that came early in the morning to open the choir room for us to settle our things down and to get ready. We would also want to thank Mr Simen and Mrs Goh, without them, we might not have the opportunity to participate in this event.
Lastly, we would want to thank our conductor- Miss Eng and our pianist- Mr Song for helping out the choir to run smoothly for the concert.

Hey Choir! All the hardwork that we all put in had been paid off! (: Although at the starting of the year, we were all not paying our full attention to our conductor [Mr William Lim], however, as the SYF days were nearer, we were all serious and had put in lots of efforts. Thus, our standard improved. I should not say more, now lets just enjoy the pictures that have been captured.

Hey choir! I know this is a bit late, but I just want to say CONGRATS AGAIN FOR MAINTAINING OUR SHINY SILVER AWARD! :DDDD

It was a long and tough journey with lots of roller coaster rides. Some of us may have felt really disheartened in the process and felt like giving up. Nonetheless, I am extremely proud of all of you as you managed to stay positive and continued to attend the practices, and on the 13th of April all our hard work paid off! :D Although we didn't manage to reach the target that we set for ourselves (Gold), I really hope that all of you are happy with what we achieved.

I want to thank our conductor Mr. William Lim for teaching us well; Miss Lin our accompanist for playing the same thing over and over and over (and over and over and over...) again just to let us get the songs as perfect as possible; the teachers Mrs Pang, Mrs Mathi, Mr Chris Yang and of course Mr Eugene Lim for being so supportive of us all the time and sacrificing their time to be with us; and lastly, I want to thank ALL OF YOU, especially my team of leaders Michael, Tisha, Li Han, Hao Yuan and David (who actually wasn't in SYF but supported us silently all the same) for being such good sports all the time and working hard and doing your best to reach our target.

After the Sec 4s step down, I hope that the remaining choristers will continue to hold our standard high, build up your passion for singing and choir and lead the future generations of choristers to become as good or even better than we are now. I wish you guys all the best in choir. :)

Hello, fine young ladies and gentlemen!

It's Wen Yenn here, blogging on behalf of the rest of your beloved leaders and teachers I/C.

FINALLY, WE'VE REACHED THE END OF NDP! WE'RE FREE AT LAST! No more Saturdays to be burnt at Kranji Camp/Padang. No more sweating and boring food. No more makeup! No more having to rush to school as early as 8.30a.m. (remember the Kranji Camp days?).

As happy as I feel, there is a feeling of sadness as well, knowing that I might never again step into the Padang as a performer, and feel the adrenaline rush as we step out into the stands on the day itself. The sense of pride that I felt when we were performing on that day itself was unbelievable. My sense of patriotism has never been so strong.

It's been a great experience for all of us. There were some bad times, like when we got scolded, but overall, I think we all enjoyed ourselves very much.

The leaders would like to thank Mrs Pang, Mr Eugene Lim, Mrs Mathi, Miss Chay, Mr Felix Tan, Mr Eric Yang and Miss Hu for all the help and support that they have given to us, as well as sacrificing some of their Saturdays to bring us to the rehearsal venues. We'd also like to thank Mr Simen and Mrs Goh for their support. Without them, we might have not had the opportunity to participate in NDP.

Hey choristers!

With school, homework, tuition, external activities and NDP, I'm sure that you all have very little time left to rest and relax even on weekends.

This is part of life and we all have to go through it at some point in time, so don't worry too much lah. :D

I'll be posting the music tracks for the NDP dance soon so that you guys can practise at home, get your family to join in... haha

Reflections of the 35th anniversary concert.

HI!! you guys should remember the 35th anniversary concert. This are some of the reflections from the sec 4s.

Guo Heng 4E2:

I had a great time at the 35th anniversary concert. It was quite an exhilarating yet tiring performance. I had gained experiences from the performance itself and has given me more confidence to perform on stage. In essence, it was quite an sensational and intriguing event that i had experienced.

Prisica Lim 4E2:

35th anniversary concert was fun. Even though we spent lots of time practicing for it, everything is worthwhile. Our hardwork paid off and all of us had a great time. I will never forget the day we performed at the esplanade.

Cherlyn Lok 4E2:

For the 35th anniversary concert, i believed all choir members have put in tremendous effort to make the performance a success. Choir had worked hard because there were intensive practises and everyone did their best. As i was secondary 3 last year, it would be my last concert performance, so i treasure the time when we are performing as a choir. I will never forget those well wishings and pats on the shoulder moments before the concert. It was a wonderful experience for me.

Heng Shun 4E2:

During the 35th anniversary concert, i was really anxious as we practise really hard for the concert and i was worried that we might screw up for the concert. For choir, one mistake in the pitching and the whole song would sound wrong. Therefore i was afraid that i might be the one to make that mistake. As it was the last choir performance for me, i really cherished the moment and it really rocks as we performed at the esplanade!!

i know all 4 reflections came from the same class. :)

CIP 2008 (Choir)

Our choir pupils went to the MILK AND HONEY Child Care Centre to do their CIP. They taught the kids how to draw, paint and read. They also played games with the kids to make them happy! In short, all the choir members and the kids at the centre had a lot of fun on the CIP day. Well done, Choir!!!

Henderson Secondary School (The Henderson Choir)

"The Henderson Choir has been formed with a history of 15 years. The Choir has since participated in the bi-annual Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging of Choirs. It participated in the International Music Festival Kristianstad-Sweden in 1996, and has also performed in Brisbane in 1997 as well as in Melbourne in 2001.

In 2002, the Choir took part in the MTV Asia Awards where it performed with P.O.D.and the National Day Parade 2002. The Choir also performed at open houses, public as well as at school events such as Speech Day, National Day and Chinese New Year.

In the SYF Central Judging of Choir 2003, the Choir clinched a Silver Award. Currently, the Choir is preparing for the performance at the Victoria Concert Hall on 18 Apr 2004 in conjunction with the school's 30th Anniversary Celebration."

Remember to sleep...as early as possible on Thursday 16 April night : )
Eat a hearty breakfast in the morning
Bring a bottle of plain water....(not soft drinks..Preserver till it's over at least.... )
iron your clothes, gel up your hair, bring hair pins.......whatever makes you look charming, handsome, pretty and beautiful that day.....to impress her/him.....er.. i mean the judges....oh and remember to bath to freshen up yourself before coming to school

Possible cancellation of choir practise.......

"With the upcoming Central Judging for Choir held on 17th April, and the Mid Year Exams coming exactly 2 weeks thereafter on May 4th, could we therefore cancel the Tuesday 21 April practice so that the students have the time to fully prepare for their exams , afterall they had worked so hard over the March break to prepare for the competition. Francis Liew can resume training the Choir after the exams to prepare them for the 35th Anniversary Concert ."

hmmmm....maybe we can work this out.....will confirm this with you all again : ) but meanwhile we'll have to WORK HARD now....

What other teacher says about CHOIR's initiatives:

" Last year, NPCC did something similar with 'celebrating National Day with Compassion', when the whole cohort (sec 1-3) went to many HDB blocks to collect one canned food from each household for the old folks.

Ya, in fact..........we can name the CIP 'Henderson Cares' ...

Do take care of the HDB blocks allocation so that the kids have a clear idea of where to go and which blocks they are responsible for. Also the pairing up of seniors with juniors, for safety and peer montioring/support...
