Musical!!

The choir has done a great job in singing several songs such as 'We are Family' by Sister Sledge and 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight' by Elton John for the school's 40th Anniversary concert. We spent a lot of our time & effort on practices and rehearsals and our hard work paid off! YAYY! :D"-Minion junior reporter.*And no that dude in black is not an old member of our choir hehe, he is Mr Eugene Lim and fellow Jack and Bran alongside in triple performance with choir ;) -K

A New Introduction, A Continuation of A Dutsy blog, Hopefully A Better Record of Our Experiences ( Basically a fancy intro to the newest writers of this seemingly underated blog of a choir in Singapore in the approx. year of 2014 a.d )

Bonjour there madam or sir! Just here to update this really really outdated side of internet. With the orders of our dear seniors to carry on this seemingly redundant but necessary tradition, I, K (the main writer) and M (so called My Boss or head collator) and fellow juniors of great importance, acting as our minion writers/reporters, are here to clean and tighten up this rusty old thing and keep you(hopefully a reader), up to date with our experiences as a choir and keep you filled with the hottest new and updates, if you could only feel my sense of dread as I am writing, wondering whether a single living organism is fortunate enough to stumble upon this or a curious long lost senior who dwelled in the past and happens to want to see how is the present, well lets hope for the best shall we and lets deliver the goods.;) Lets hope for at least a monthly update/or issue(like the sound of that;))

Your reporter here,*(apologies for the immediate  following of blogs/issues, no, we did not do these in one single day, you crazy reader, its just due to our seemingly late response, apologies faithful reader, will not happen again.)

Choir Concert 2013 - Musique Sans Frontieres

On the 20th of October, our choir team went to watch a choir concert conducted by our instructor, Mr Adyll held at SOTA. It was a great opportunity for us to bond with each other. We had lots of fun and was also amazed by the way our instructor was on stage. He was calm and graceful on the stage, conducting his choir team with ease and joy :) We hope one day we can be as good as the NUSS Choir too, sing with fun and passion.

Choir Exchange 2013

This was definitely one of the most memorable time for us as this was our very first exchange. We saw many different choirs, be it big or small, young or old. We definitely learnt a lot through this experience as we got to observe their singing techniques and their gestures. What struck us most was the expressions and actions they made, they were enjoying themselves and were not afraid to be themselves on stage. :) We hope we would get to go for another exchange soon, Thank you Mr Adyll ! :)

Thank you Seniors! :)

To all our seniors, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. (: We had much fun with every single one of you and thank you for the encouragement and guidance you have given to each of us.

We would also like to thank our president, Michelle, for being such a great leader, for your effort and support all these while. :')

We will miss you guys a lot and we hope that even after your graduation, you would come back to visit us and spend time with us again. :)

Speech Day Performance 2013

On the 13th of April, our choir performed the pieces 'Adoramuste', 'Burung Kakak Tua' and 'Singapore our Home'. We practiced many hours for the performance, and even though we were tired, our energy was not drained. With all our effort, we managed to pull it through and outshine ourselves on stage. Well done choir ! :)

HSS Choir SYF 2013

Hey Choir! SYF journey was a tough one, but we have overcame all the challenges and achieved the certificate of commendation. Although we didn't manage to achieve the target we want, I believe all of us have tried our best on that day despite many of us were sick. Let's work harder for a better result next time. :)

I would like to thank our conductor, Mr William Lim, for conducting us and being such a great instructor to all of us.

Our last rehearsal before the performance. :)

Synergy Performance 2012

The choir participated in this years school public performance called Synergy- one school, Multiple Talents. A musical tapping on the various talents in the school from the band, dance, glee club actors/dancers and of course not forgetting the choir. The performance was held over 2 days 13-14 April and was open to the public. In preparation for the performance the choir practiced very hard to give their best for the musical.

Bukit Merah Library Concert 30/7

Hey choir! I'm sorry for the late updates. On the 30th of July, the choir performed in the Bukit Merah Library, it was our first time that we perform in a "library" right? Its a rare opportunity to perform for others and its a great experience for the sec twos.

The committee would like to thank the teachers that came early in the morning to open the choir room for us to settle our things down and to get ready. We would also want to thank Mr Simen and Mrs Goh, without them, we might not have the opportunity to participate in this event.
Lastly, we would want to thank our conductor- Miss Eng and our pianist- Mr Song for helping out the choir to run smoothly for the concert.

HSS Choir SYF 2011

Hey Choir! All the hardwork that we all put in had been paid off! (: Although at the starting of the year, we were all not paying our full attention to our conductor [Mr William Lim], however, as the SYF days were nearer, we were all serious and had put in lots of efforts. Thus, our standard improved. I should not say more, now lets just enjoy the pictures that have been captured.
Here is where it all begins..

GOOD JOB CHOIR!

Hey choir! I know this is a bit late, but I just want to say CONGRATS AGAIN FOR MAINTAINING OUR SHINY SILVER AWARD! :DDDD

It was a long and tough journey with lots of roller coaster rides. Some of us may have felt really disheartened in the process and felt like giving up. Nonetheless, I am extremely proud of all of you as you managed to stay positive and continued to attend the practices, and on the 13th of April all our hard work paid off! :D Although we didn't manage to reach the target that we set for ourselves (Gold), I really hope that all of you are happy with what we achieved.

I want to thank our conductor Mr. William Lim for teaching us well; Miss Lin our accompanist for playing the same thing over and over and over (and over and over and over...) again just to let us get the songs as perfect as possible; the teachers Mrs Pang, Mrs Mathi, Mr Chris Yang and of course Mr Eugene Lim for being so supportive of us all the time and sacrificing their time to be with us; and lastly, I want to thank ALL OF YOU, especially my team of leaders Michael, Tisha, Li Han, Hao Yuan and David (who actually wasn't in SYF but supported us silently all the same) for being such good sports all the time and working hard and doing your best to reach our target.

After the Sec 4s step down, I hope that the remaining choristers will continue to hold our standard high, build up your passion for singing and choir and lead the future generations of choristers to become as good or even better than we are now. I wish you guys all the best in choir. :)

NDP 2010: Live Our Dreams, Fly Our Flag

Hello, fine young ladies and gentlemen!

It's Wen Yenn here, blogging on behalf of the rest of your beloved leaders and teachers I/C.

FINALLY, WE'VE REACHED THE END OF NDP! WE'RE FREE AT LAST! No more Saturdays to be burnt at Kranji Camp/Padang. No more sweating and boring food. No more makeup! No more having to rush to school as early as 8.30a.m. (remember the Kranji Camp days?).

As happy as I feel, there is a feeling of sadness as well, knowing that I might never again step into the Padang as a performer, and feel the adrenaline rush as we step out into the stands on the day itself. The sense of pride that I felt when we were performing on that day itself was unbelievable. My sense of patriotism has never been so strong.

It's been a great experience for all of us. There were some bad times, like when we got scolded, but overall, I think we all enjoyed ourselves very much.

The leaders would like to thank Mrs Pang, Mr Eugene Lim, Mrs Mathi, Miss Chay, Mr Felix Tan, Mr Eric Yang and Miss Hu for all the help and support that they have given to us, as well as sacrificing some of their Saturdays to bring us to the rehearsal venues. We'd also like to thank Mr Simen and Mrs Goh for their support. Without them, we might have not had the opportunity to participate in NDP.
**********
Ok, having said that, the photos above have been taken from Mr Yang's Facebook (thanks Mr Yang!).
There'll be more soon. I have to get them from Mr Tan. :D
See you guys! Rest your voices, behave yourselves, eat your vegetables...
Love from Wen Yenn, Li Han, Michael, Tisha, David and HaoYuan.
